November is Orphan Awareness Month. If someone was to ask me what engulfs my mind, aside from the day to day happenings of life, I would say the fatherless and missions. And yet, they are so easily forgotten by many and go unheard. The plight of Foster Care and the plight of the Global Orphan Crisis is not commonly talked about from the pulpit. We need to be aware of the reality around us. Not push away and try to convince ourselves it’s not real or “it’s not my problem”. If you follow Jesus, then it’s your problem. It’s not the responsibility of the DHR. It’s not the responsibility of the government. It is the responsibility of the Church.
This month become aware of the plight of the Orphan. Even more, become aware of the Father’s heart for the fatherless. But don’t let it stop at awareness. What does that really profit these children, yourself, and even more the Kingdom if it just stops at becoming aware. Let your awareness compel you to action. I recommend that you watch this video. It’s real. It’s relevent. It’s life. It’s the Gospel. Will you answer the cry of the orphan?
