“What no eye has seen, nor ear heard, nor the heart of man imagined, what God has prepared for those who love Him.” – 1 Cor 2:9 (ESV)
It’s conference time again. The biggest event of the year. We do this every year. We know what to expect…or do we?
What if we went into this conference in a measure of faith like we have never had before? What if we came in with expectations that exceeded normal expectations- that even might seem crazy to the natural eye? What if this year we believed God to do what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and the mind can’t even perceive or the heart even imagine?
We have this big God. With Him, nothing is impossible. He is infinite, and He is limitless. You can’t ever exhaust Him. He is so multifacted and so fascinating that the 4 living creatures (in Revelation) encircle the throne day and night (since eternity past and eternity to come) crying out ‘Holy Holy Holy is the Lord God Almighty!” Why? Because every time they make a revolution around the throne of God they see a facet of Him they have NEVER seen before. Can you imagine encircling the throne of God for all eternity and still see something you have never seen about God? His greatness is unsearchable (Ps 145:3). So, why think so small? Why dream so small? Why expect so little?
Have you ever thought about how excited Jesus gets when a conference like this comes along? Think about it. Before time ever began, he looked to this week coming up. He looked at May 6-9, 2012. His heart overflowing with excitement as He begins to dream about this day- how He is going to move and how He wants to reveal Himself to His people. For ages, before time began, He has anticipated this week and the lives that would be forever changed. Can you see Him on the edge of His seat (or throne in this case:) bubbly with joy and excitement as the day approaches? The excitement in Heaven building as we come across this point in all of time where everything could change- where the course of the Church and the course of this city could change. He sees every person. He knows every promise.
What if whatever you are praying for and whatever you are believing God for (from the most basic need to the most extravagant dream or desire) was just the base line- like a starting point – and God wanted to do far more exceedingly than that need, dream, or desire. No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no heart can imagine what God has planned. Part of God’s character is that He exceeds Himself. The Psalmist said in Psalm 23 that “my cup overflows”. When the disciples fed the thousands of people, they had baskets of food left over. Ephesians 3:20 in the Amplified says:
“Now to Him Who, by (in consequence of) the [action of His] power that is at work within us, is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly, far over and above all that we [dare] ask or think [infinitely beyond our highest prayers, desires, thoughts, hopes, or dreams]…”
Can you imagine? Does this stir your faith to believe for what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no heart has ever imagined?
Here’s my challenge to you: As you prepare your heart for the upcoming conference, stir your faith up to believe God for what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no heart has ever imagined. Let’s not default to the mechanics of a conference or look at it as just another event. When the disciples had the Last Supper with Jesus before He was arrested, they had no idea about the significance of that night. They had already been through many Passovers in their lifetime and had at least 2 Passovers with Jesus before. It seemed like just a typical night to them. They thought they knew what to expect. Why would this time be any different? In the garden, just shortly before Jesus would be arrested, they fell asleep. They thought it was just another night and missed the significance and the time they were in. Globally, we are in a significant time. Don’t mistake next week for just another conference. See now the significance of next week. See how life-changing next week could be. History could be made next week. Eternal destinies could shift. Believe God for what goes beyond all expectation. Press into God like never before! Run harder after Him and all that He has promised you like you have never done before!
It’s not just another event. It’s a movement.
