We read in all the gospels of how Peter denied Jesus. Jesus- the Man that Peter had followed for so long. Jesus- the Man that Peter had committed himself to. Jesus- the Man that Peter sought and had revelation of who Jesus truly was. Jesus- the Man that Peter saw in all His glory on the Mount of Transfiguration. Peter, James, and John are the only was that saw Jesus as He truly was, in all His Glory. They saw Him as He is. Jesus- the Man that Peter had seen over and over do miracles, teach in the synagogues, cast out demons.
Peter denies this Man Jesus. In response to his fall, he isolates himself running away weeping. He doesn’t even show up to the crucifixtion. He doesn’t show up to the cross that this Man hung on. He couldn’t even go and behold the gaze of this Man- couldn’t even look at Him.
When we fall and mess up, the Enemy will do whatever he can do and throw whatever he can at you to prevent you from running to the Cross.- to stop you from getting close to the cross and the power that came from that cross and the power that came from the blood that Jesus bled. The cross that set your free and redeemed you. The cross that Jesus showed how much He loves you and wants you. The power to break off the depression. The power to break off the stronghold of sin and addiction. The power to forgive. The power to break off throughts of suicide. He will do anything he can to stop you from running to Jesus and from turning your eyes to Jesus to behold His gaze. He will do anything to keep you in that bondage of sin, shame, and guilt that Jesus defeated on that Cross. He bore your guilt and your shame. He died so you could be free- not live your life in bondage.
Revelation1:5-6 “To Him who loves us and has freed us from our sins by His blood and made us a kingdom, priests to His God and Father, to Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.”
But the Enemy will roar in your ear speaking lies to you and condemning you because of what it is you have done. He will try to cause you to isolate yourself from the community around you and to keep you from running to Jesus and realizing and coming close to the Cross. His blood is enough to break every chain. He will try to cultivate in you the ideas and beliefs to cause you from looking up and gazing at Jesus, but to keep your head down in shame.
But friend you must fight. Don’t let them enemy cause you to run away from the very Man that came and brought you power to crush the head of the serpent, the very Man that poured out His Blood to set your free and redeem your life from the pit, the very Man who is the author and finisher of your faith, the very Man where one look of Your eye and His is ravished, the very Man who delights in you and wants you. He wants you friend. There is no condemnation for those in Christ Jesus. When you fall, run to Jesus. When you mess up, run to the cross. There is freedom in Jesus.
Just Keep seeking. Don’t stop seeking. There are times where lies from the enemy or something that I will fight through and then months later the enemy will try to attack me with it again. At one point I began to think about how did I fight through this before? The only answer I keep getting and coming up with is that I kept seeking.
The answer to your depression is Jesus. Keep seeking Jesus. The answer to your pornographic addiction is Jesus. Keep seeking Jesus. The answer to your discouragement is Jesus. Keep seeking Jesus. The answer is Jesus. Run to Jesus. Cry out to Jesus. Keep seeking. Your breakthrough is found in Jesus. Don’t give up because you don’t get what your seeking or praying in the amount of time you think you should have it. Sometimes Jesus wants to teach you endurance and to see the value of what it is your believing Him for and seeking. Sometimes He wants to see how bad do you really want it. Do you want it bad enough to push pass your screaming flesh? Do you want it bad enough to fight past the resistance and lies of the enemy? Do you want it bad enough to tarry for hours and seek for days? How bad do you really want it? How bad do you really want Jesus? How far will you go to get to Jesus?
The woman with the blood issue believed so strongly in her heart that she would be healed if she just touch Jesus and she wanted to get to Jesus bad enough that she pressed through a crowd to get to Him. Keep seeking. You will not find the freedom or breakthrough that you are crying out to God for if you stop seeking and withdraw yourself dwelling on your current circumstances and feelings. It is when you aggressively stand firm and fight and press your way through the resistance and get to Jesus and keep seeking that you will find what you are needing. Don’t stop crying out. Don’t stop seeking. Run to Him. His blood is enough to break every chain. He Word is truth and He who promised is faithful.
